‘Ministries’ or ‘Works of Service’ is a term used to collectively describe all that the Sisters do for people in need. We are motivated and inspired by the example of Jesus and in the firm belief that all may "have life and have it to the full" (John 10:10). Providing service to people in need and nurturing a faith-view of life is our essential apostolic concern. In our ministries of holistic health care, education, pastoral and social work, and in all other activities we endeavour to promote respect and dignity for each person, created in the image of God. “…In working with people, and in turn being enriched by them, we discharge our unique role in the apostolic, social and cultural life of the world in which we live and work…” (Constitution Art. 5) Healthcare: Sisters of St John of God continue their well established tradition of healthcare in Australia through their membership in "St John of God Australia" which sponsors St John of God Healthcare. www.sjog.org.au Educational ministries: We believe that education is one of the most effective ways of overcoming obstacles to fullness of life. From the earliest days on the Goldfields of the 1890, Sisters have undertaken educational ministries. Today, in contemporary healthcare, the ongoing formation and education of caregivers is an important commitment of Sisters of St John of God. Clinical Pastoral Education is provided as a ministry within St John of God Healthcare. The Sisters of St John of God in Pakistan are primarily involved in the education of children and adult education of women.
