Leadership
The Sisters of St John of God in Australia belong to what is known as the Province of St Therese.
Like most religious congregations within the Catholic Church, there are three levels of leadership: Congregational, Province and Local Levels.
- At the Congregational level, members have overall responsibility for the functioning of the Congregation, according to the Constitutions of the Sisters of St John of God. The Congregational Leadership Team is made up of an elected leader, a deputy leader and two councillors. They are elected by the Sisters for a six year term of office. The Congregational Office is located in Wexford, Ireland.
- The Province Leadership Team is made up of four Sisters; a Province Leader, a deputy leader and two councillors. Their primary concern is to enhance the spiritual and apostolic life of the Province.
- Local Leaders are appointed to each community group, usually for a period of three years. The Local Leader is primarily concerned with the integral functioning of the apostolic community, and the spiritual and apostolic vitality of the members.

Community
Sisters live in small community groups, and varied locations which best suit their apostolic service to others. Each Sister is a member of a local community, and they come together for prayer, mutual support, discernment and to share in the ongoing life of the Province.
